Your child will use more energy when they are active and they will only get that energy from the foods they eat. A great way to ensure that they are getting all they need to keep up with their active lifestyles you can keep healthy vegetarian snacks on hand for them at all times. But since they can’t live only on snacks here are some food items that are nutritious and packed with all your active child needs.

  1. Avocados – these are high in vitamins such as Vitamin E and Vitamin B6. It is also high in fiber and you can make guacamole with it in no time. Serve this up in a tortilla roll with their preferred protein and you have quick, easy vegetarian meals for kids that your child will look forward to eating.
  2. Bananas – these little guys are high in potassium and most children love them right out of their skins. You can pack this in lunch boxes when they go to school or on the weekends when they go out to their various sports meets. It is also high in complex carbohydrates and so it provides your vegetarian child with a healthy source of energy so they can stay active.
  3. If your child is a chocolate lover you can use carob powder when baking stuff or you can add it to a smoothie. It is naturally sweet and so they won’t object to eating anything that it is contained in. it is high in potassium and calcium for their growing bones as well.
  4. For iron you can toss in some dried fruits, vegetarian kids can snack on these or you can add them to salads so they can get their veggies in at the same time too.
  5. And since we are talking about veggies here are some great choices to incorporate in your vegetarian meals for kids. Things such as broccoli, kale, collards and spinach should be on your kid’s plate more than once per week, they are high in folate, calcium and vitamin C.
